what is mix-ab?

mix-ab is a simple macOS app that toggles the input monitoring on a tagged audio track in Pro Tools.

With mix-ab, you can effortlessly switch between your mixbus output and the rough mix in the audio track.

For me, it saved tons of time by eliminating the need to scroll through Pro Tools just to toggle the input monitor.

If you use this input monitoring technique on Pro Tools, mix-ab is a must have.

How do I install mix-ab?

After you fill the form in this page, you’ll receive an email with a link to a .zip file containing:

The mix-ab application (.app file).
An AppleScript file to help you grant the necessary permissions for the app to run.
A step-by-step tutorial guiding you through the process.

Since mix-ab is not yet signed (Apple charges a fee for developer certification), this workaround is necessary for now.

Don’t worry—the tutorial and AppleScript will make the process quick and easy!

How much does it cost?

Nothing! mix-ab is and always will be 100% free.
